Complete with a corn pit, mini golf course, and permanent 20,000-square-foot maze, A Maze’n Farmyard provides families around Eden Valley, Minnesota, with an affordable option for family amusement. Dedicated to helping its community outside of the entertainment realm, A Maze’n Farmyard supports the Eden Valley Lions Club.

For more than 100 years, Lions Clubs International has encouraged peace and promoted international understanding through many programs and events. One of the organization’s programs for youth is the Lions International Essay Contest. This contest is available to students around the world who are visually impaired and aged between 11 and 13 years old. Through the Lions International Essay Contest, these students are given the chance to express their feelings of peace through writing.

The contest can only be sponsored by a local Lions Club, and each club is welcome to sponsor area schools, individuals, and youth groups who wish to participate in the event. All submitted essays must be within 500 words long and must be sent in with a completed entry form to be eligible. These essays must not have been published elsewhere and must be the work of a single student rather than a group. Students only get one entry per year and are automatically disqualified and banned from future essay contests if their essay is plagiarized.

Once all of the submissions are received, the organization begins going through each essay. One grand prize winner receives $5,000 and an award recognizing the accomplishment.
